well hello everyone!
this weekend, i was supposed to take off on a grand adventure and go explore northern africa with a group of students. after waking up early on friday morning (5:00 am to be exact) and walking an hour to meet our bus (because the city busses were not running) and then driving three hours to the ferry station in algeciras (which is only separated from morocco by about 12 kilometers), i ended up spending my entire stranded in the algeciras ferry station. a huge storm blew across southern spain/northern africa, making any sort of sailing impossible. we hung around the station for a while, hoping that things would clear and that boats would be free to sail, but no luck. around 3:00 pm (we´d been there since 9:30 am), we learned that no boats would be going in or out of the port that day. in fact, the loudspeaker´s exact words were: no boats, absolutely NO BOATS, will be sailing in algeciras today.
talk about a bummer.
so instead of hanging out in sunny morocco, i´m here in sevilla, where it has been rainy and blustery all weekend. i´m trying to make the sweetest lemonade possible out of these lemons, and i definitely did a little retail therapy yesterday. today, i´m going to see a movie and then out for indian food (spanish indian food? that should be an adventure!). sorry if this post is a little bit whiny, and i promise to write something happier and more enthused come tuesday.
:)
